To distinguish it from the Staffordshire Bull Terrier of England, which is slightly lighter.    The American Pit Bull was the first breed to be registered with the United Kennel Club in 1898.  Pit Bull and Staffordshire are practically an animal but registered in two different clubs.  Most pit bulls are between 35 and 60 cm tall and weigh an average of 18 to 27 kg.    Their short and glossy coating can be of any color or color combination.  Pit bulls do not need much care, brushing and a casual bath is enough. The average lifespan of an American Pit Bull Terrier is 10 to 12 years. Trim the nails of Pit Bull dogs once a month and brush their teeth once a week to prevent unpleasant odors when barking. They strongly distinguish between good and bad people. Pit Bull's current reputation in the United States goes back to Am Staff, who, as described, have a common history and are known only by separate names in that country. Trained pit bulls are very kind and extremely gentle with children, families and other animals.
